Al Powell
Al Powell starts his tenth year with Borderline and has had an outstanding impact with the club, taking multiple teams to Nationals since arriving at Borderline VBC. He also developed numerous players that have been selected for the Ohio Valley Region high performance team and the US National high performance program. Al brings the same high energy and experience to the club that he was known for in his playing days from where he started his volleyball career over 34 years ago after joining the USAF. He has been playing and coaching club teams both in the United States and internationally. He is a former member of the USAF Volleyball Team and has over 20 years of A- and AA-level playing experience. He has over 19 years of coaching experience in youth baseball, middle school basketball, and CYO volleyball, and he continues to grow with Borderline VBC. He is certified level 4 in the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. Al has previously been the Assistant Varsity Volleyball coach at East Central High School in St. Leon, Indiana. Colleges continue to benefit from his direct development of 20 Division 1 players and countless other volleyball players at the collegiate level. He and his wife Jane have three kids.
