Borderline 16 Black (2009)16 Black Storm Cruise to Bronze ChampionshipsThe 16 Black Storm entered the season at the Dayton Presidents' Cup with high expectations. Facing solid competition from New York, Michigan, and the always-solid OVR, in the end the Black Storm faced another top flight Borderline 16 White team in the Bronze Championships. With teams coming from all over the eastern United States, it shows just how strong the club is, putting two teams into the medal round. Maggie Johnson's total game was strong all weekend, and the solid serving from Alli Brown put big points on the board. Jenn Smith and Emily Broughton put up some solid front row play, while Carly Schriever blocked with the best of anyone in the tournament. Hannah Schroeder and Nikki Nagy ran the show, putting up solid assists, getting the ball from back-row passing of Taylor Ruder and Alexia Wainscott. Both the 16 Storm and 16 White are off to a great start this year, and I'm sure that they will be in many finals this year. For additional information, contact Al Powell |
